Holiday Woes?

As the days of gobble gobble and Merry Ho Ho draw near, a poverty
stricken girl like me finds herself with yet another dilemma....what
to do to be able to buy myself a
holiday gift?! Yes, I know the season is about peace on earth and being kind to your fellow man and whatever but seriously folks, if it were really about all that then why are millions of people running around like mad men and women and practically bankrupting themselves just to get those "must have" holiday items?? My family decided a while back that we were all just too broke to do such crazy holiday shopping anymore and that just being able to spend time together and have a good meal would be just as enjoyable as opening a bunch of presents that we probably didn't really need or wouldn't use anyway. To me, it was a perfect solution to the holiday stress. Even better, why don't we just all buy a little something for ourselves? That way, we get what we want and we save some $$. Yes! Now back to the dilemma part - how do I come up with the cash to get the gift that I want? I have been a pretty good girl this year. I've worked hard. I've been kind to my fellow man. Ok, except for when my fellow man pissed me off too many times - but it happens! I decided I needed a new cellphone. Afterall, I see everyone with their groovy new cellphones taking pictures and downloading cool ringtones and stuff like that and I was still toting around my old dinosaur phone that didn't even have color graphics! Man, talk about embarrassing! I had to fix that - quickly! Ok, maybe not so quickly. Problem of not enough cash still nagging at me. Something had to give, c'mon!! When do I ever get to treat myself to luxury? Then one day the mailman came and walla!! Wells Fargo bank decided that they would spread the holiday cheer by allowing their customers to defer a car payment for one month and use the money for whatever they wished. Defer you say? Yes, I'm pretty sure defer means I can skip a payment. Hmm, better make sure before we sign too quickly. Let's look it up on the online dictionary.....ok here we go - according to Merriam-Webster the word defer means to put off or delay. Did you hear that?! Put off or delay!!! That's good enough for me!!! Ok, so they tack on an extra 30 bucks to my loan and I also have to pay the interest on it but the way I figure it, I'll be in debt to them for the next decade anyway so might as well take advantage of the opportunity, right?! Hell yeah!!! So sign away I do and visions of the new Motorola RAZR dance in my head. On the way home after making my new purchase, I thought about all the people less fortunate than myself and what I could to justify my selfishness. Uh...still thinking about that one.....I still have some time, right....yeah, plenty of time!!! By the way, have you checked out the new Motorola RAZR? Freakin' Sweet!!!!
