I Didn't Say That!!!

I'm not supposed to mention how sweet and
kind and loveable this guy is. Or that he can
really be a total gentleman when he wants to.
I was told that it might ruin his reputation if
I said things like that. So I'm not going to :-)

Rockin' Weekend

After an emotionally exhausting week consisting of saying goodbye to my dad who left for Oklahoma and also to my niece who left for college, I was fortunate to have spent the weekend with good friends. I had an awesome dinner date with Crazy Dave on Friday. We met up with his brother Mike and his date Amanda for some karaoke afterward and then to a party for a little bit and then to my house for more drinkin' and singin'. Saturday was killer as well. Brenda and I went to the Blues Traveler concert which was amazing! We were right in front of the stage and I even managed to score a pick from the guitar player who saw me eyeing it and then sought me out after the encore to make sure I got it - way cool!!! John Popper even came up and shook our hands after the show.
We left there and met up with Tiff at James' bar for a while and then off to Crazy Dave's Beach House for cocktails and meaningless drunk conversation (is it Merry Kwanzaa or Happy Kwanzaa??) where Dave was nice enough to take a pic of me and Brenda kicking it outside at the bar. It was a gorgeous night and I couldn't have asked for better company. Sunday consisted of Dave and I doing lunch, mall shopping, where we both bought the same shirt (how cheese is that!?!?) and then hanging out at his pad for a movie and relaxation.
Well it's back to work tomorrow and it should be quite interesting as I have a big meeting in the morning with the boss and a couple of my coworkers. Oh what fun! Could we rewind back to Friday?? Just this once?? At least a 3 day holiday weekend is just around the corner. I know I can make it.
Yes, I can!!! :-)

Fun With Friends

This weekend Tiff and I went to meet our friend Misha at a Christian themed coffee shop for a karaoke event that Misha's church group organized. It was definitely a different experience compared to what we are used to but we met some nice people and even my friend Sandy from work came by and sang a few tunes. Everybody was on their best behavior and we even managed to control our potty mouths for a few hours! The coffee was just as good as Starbucks too! Afterward, Tiff and I went to see our friend James at his bar and sing karaoke there. James' dad was there too who is a real nice guy and I sang a duet with him. Our friend "Crazy" Dave who we've known for a few years came and hung out with us too. We had a great time and I didn't even wake up with a hangover! Yay! Maybe I'll actually get something accomplished before I go back to work. Let's see....I have laundry....I have dusting and cleaning to do....hmm.....*yawn*....maybe I'll just take a little nap first....Hee!

My Old Friends The Nicas

Ariel and Carlos (all grown up!!)
Ariel & Carlos way back in the day
(before they left to go back home)

Carlos, Margarita & Ariel (as they looked the last time I saw them)

How cool is it that I am still in contact with my friends in Nicaragua?! I used to work with these people at A & W when I was in high school almost 20 years ago! We had a lot of fun times together for a few years and then they decided to move back to their country. We lost touch for a while and then we found each other again! Carlos is now living in Costa Rica while Margarita and Ariel live in Nicaragua. Just last week Carlos surprised me with a phone call and invited me to go see the family in their country. It was so great to hear from him after so long and it was hard for me to believe it was his voice on the other line since he was only about 14 when I last saw him. He's 30 now and as you can see from the photos, all grown up! I was happy to hear that the whole family is doing great. Ariel is just a year younger than me and has become a well known architect in Nicaragua and lives in a beautiful house. How time flies! I will always remember Sundays at the A & W and listening to America's Top 40 and how we made fun of the songs. I will also always remember laughing when they would bicker amongst themselves and call each other stupido in their spanish accents. Hopefully we will meet again someday in person so we can reminisce about old times and make some new memories too. Until that time, I feel very fortunate that I still have them as friends and even though they are far away, I can always email or pick up the phone just to say hello. Good stuff!!!

Freakin' Sweet!

After being sick for a friggin' week and still in the process of recuperating, I remain optimistic that all
badness will pass and be completely gone by the
weekend. I can't wait! I know someone who has something really cool and it only gives me more reason to get better soon. Much fun is soon to be
had.....Yay!!
